Happy to say Slice 3 will be coming to a Flash website near you very soon.
After converting the game to C++ to land on iPad and Playbook I'm converting back to AS3. Luckily they are very similar languages with only variable declaration syntax and memory allocation being much different.
I think I prefer the deliberate and explicit memory allocation in C++ to the fire and forget garbage collected AS3 style - but I guess it does make it a bit faster to code in AS3.
I'm not using the Adobe software to make the game, just their Flex compiler in combination with FlashDevelop. So I miss out on all the easy vector art but that's OK as Slice is all about pre-rendered 3D art.
In other news I am finally going to take on the metroidvania project I've been wanting to do for years. But against my normal art style I think I'm going to aim for a really simple retro big-pixel look so I can focus my efforts on the actual gameplay.
